Interview With Why?

So, Why? are a wicked awesome band, that's established. But would you like to see them interviewed by a middle aged man who wears clothes that are way too young for him? Of course you would.

P.S. Why?'s new album Eskimo Snow is out now and I recommend it, like, loads.

New Sufjan Stevens!

It's been way flippin' long since Sufjan Stevens breached public ears with new music, but alas, the wait is over. Recorded at a show in Ithaca, New York Sufjan debuted three new compositions, all, in my opinion, of hyper epic standard. Below you can watch the videos of Mr. Stevens performing them live, along with links to the downloadable MP3s of each song. Enjoy at your leisure.

Sufjan Stevens - "There's Too Much Love" (Live) MP3

Sufjan Stevens - "Age Of Adz" (Live) MP3

Sufjan Stevens - "Impossible Souls" (Live) MP3

Speaking Volumez Podcast EP6

Dearest Y'all,

Episode 6 has been chopped up, sanded down, varnished, and is now fit for consumption. It lays in waiting, buff and ready to be be grabbed at the shoulders and taken by you.

This episode we've completely upped the ante. Imagine that all the previous episodes are like thick demented dogs... well, by comparison this one is Lassie, bounding across a golden field barking a symphony of lushious sounds towards the valley of your ears. We've scattered a few brand new little jingles all over the place which we hope you find chucklesome. Also, there's a brand new feature this week entitled "Pillow Talk" (it's not what you think! Unless you're thinking about what it actually is, in which case, it's completely what you think) to complement the existing "How Old is it Fella?".

Aside from all that, we have the usual barrage of disgustingly good music for you to enjoy.

As always, right click HERE and "Save Link As..." to download it, or get it on iTunes by clicking HERE.

Here's the tracklisting for episode six:

1. Beirut - Akara
2. Siriusmo - Let Me In!
3. Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer
4. Kyza - The King (feat. King Knut)
5. The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps

7. Harmonic 313 - Köln
8. Us & Them - My One
9. Joker - Digidesign
10. Heartsrevolution - Ultraviolence (Les Petits Pilous Remix)

This episode's cheeky video treat is a wonderful live rendition of "Nantes" by Beirut, I dare you to enjoy it!

Many hugs,
Michael and Paul.

This episode, we have a special guest; Chris Salem - friend, brother, son, pilot, muscle man, confidant - joins us to discuss music and crows, film quotes and pub coaster quizes. It's a messy fest of lols and songs, with which we'd love for you to join in!

Buck 65 - Blood Pt. 2

Oh Hi!

So yeah, basically I thought I'd take the liberty of posting up a flippin' song here for you! It's a re-doing (I think the kids call it remixing, or some shit like that) by Buck 65 of the Sufjan Stevens song Blood Pt.2 (played on episode one of the Podcast). It's been beaten up a little and a rapper chap called Serengeti has busted some rhymes over it. This re-doing features on the Dark Was The Night compilation (along with the original) which I must stress is chocked full of lovely songs.

So here, take it, I don't want it anymore, it's all yours to keep:

Buck 65 - Blood Pt. 2 (Feat. Sufjan Stevens and Serengeti)

Two weeks goes quickly, right? Here we are rolling up to your computer doorstep with episode three cradled in our arms already. This episode wanders through an ecclectic mix of 10 new songs which we hope you'll enjoy. Aside from the musical delights, we also have the usual chitter-chatterings; this week we cover some diverse topics which range from talk of painting cats' heads illuminous orange, to the moment when Bubble smashed his leg into a chair on Big Brother 2. Also, I accidentally use a Little Britian catchphrase and Paul has a mini-meltdown. Mental. There is also the perennial question to ask... who will be crowned this weeks "How Old is it Fella?" champion?!

The illustration is done by Geoff McFetridge. Have a peek.

A Wonderful Treat!

I've a wonderful little treat for you. You know that old band, The Beatles? Well aside from producing a plethora of amazing songs they also did a few films; the first of which was called A Hard Day's Night (like the song!) and I've found the film in it's entirety on dat fing called da youtube.

It's a genuinely charming and funny film which I hope you'll enjoy. It's in 9 parts on youtube and I've only posted up the first on here but the others are easy to find.

A couple of things to look out for:

1) George Harrison stacking hard in the first scene and John Lennon cracking up.
2) Ringo Starr's weird laugh at about 4 Minutes 20 Seconds.

I wanna be your lover!

The thing I find most confusing about this whole thing is that, lyrically, they both seem to be singing about totally different things. Mr. Moustache seems to be describing some perilous journey to another planet where they are attacked by various creatures while Mr. Floppy Face sings about wanting to elevate a buddy status to a fuck buddy status.

Regardless, and I'm not sure if this is wrong of me, but I actually love this song.

My favourite bit is when he "makes contact" beep beep.

Onwards!

Here for you, and only you, is a lovely little animated video. It's presented by Nike and is called Onwards. The brilliant illustration is by James Jarvis and the delightfully apt music is by Caribou. Don't worry if you can't hear anything at first, the music doesn't kick in until just after a minute.
